Verdant Energy Management Thermostats for PTAC & VTAC

Verdant Energy Management Thermostats for PTAC & VTAC

Verdant thermostats cut guest-room HVAC runtime by about 45% on average and typically lower energy cost by 15–20%, without changing how the room feels when a guest is in it.

They do it with built-in motion + thermal occupancy sensing, patented Night Occupancy (so the unit does not set back while someone is sleeping), and set-point limits that stop extreme guest settings. Install time is about 10 minutes per room. Wired and wireless models are available. The wireless mesh does not use the property Wi-Fi.

AIDCO supplies Verdant alongside Amana, GE / Hotpoint, Islandaire, Applied Comfort, and Distinctions PTAC / VTAC units. One quote. One Canadian supplier. GTA installation and aftercare available.

What you get in the number

  • ~45% less HVAC runtime in vacant rooms (Verdant published average)
  • ~15–20% lower energy cost on the rooms those units serve
  • 12–18 month typical payback, faster when utility incentives apply
  • ~10 minute install per thermostat — retrofit or new build
  • Approved by major hotel brands including Hilton, Marriott, and IHG programs
  • Ontario Save on Energy Retrofit currently lists Hotel Occupancy Control incentives of $100/room (gas heat) and $200/room (electric heat) for HVAC + lighting occupancy control. AIDCO will help you check current eligibility before you order.

How it works

  1. The thermostat watches the room with a motion sensor and a thermal sensor.
  2. When the room is empty, temperature setback starts automatically. Limits keep the room from drifting too far.
  3. When a guest returns, Dynamic Intelligent Recovery brings the room back to the set point within the time you allow.
  4. Night Occupancy keeps setback off while a sleeping guest is detected — no door switch required.
  5. Optional online management (Verdant Thermostat Manager) lets you see and adjust every room from a phone or desktop. The mesh network is proprietary 900 MHz RF. It does not sit on guest Wi-Fi.

Models we quote

Most hotel and LTC PTAC jobs land on the VX / VX4 family. ZX is the flagship guest-facing design (e-paper display). We match the model to the unit, voltage, and whether you want standalone or networked rooms.

Family Best fit Occupancy Install Display
VX / VX4 PTAC, PTHP, VTAC, fan coil, most hotel retrofits PIR + thermal (occupancy models) Wired or wireless LCD, black or white
VX4-GEA GE / Hotpoint Zoneline V12 and make-up air PTACs Yes Plug-and-play harness LCD
ZX New builds and brand-standard guest rooms Yes + Night Occupancy Wired or wireless E-paper

Common part families: VX4-TR (wired), VX4-TW (wireless), VX4-HW (line voltage wireless), VX-TR-KT / VX-TW-KT, ZX wired/wireless. Black or white. Networked (-XMF) or standalone.

PTAC and VTAC compatibility

Verdant is built for the equipment AIDCO already ships:

  • PTAC and PTHP with electric heat
  • VTAC / VTHP
  • Fan coil (2-pipe and 4-pipe, PSC and ECM)
  • Water-source heat pump
  • Selected VRF / mini-split (LG, Mitsubishi, Carrier, Daikin, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Hitachi — model-specific)
  • GE / Hotpoint Zoneline including newer V12 and make-up air chassis (VX4-GEA)

If you already run Amana, GE Zoneline, Hotpoint, Islandaire, Applied Comfort, or Distinctions units, send the model number. We confirm terminals (R, C, Y, W, O/B, GH, GL, AUX) before we quote.

Who this is for

  • Hotels and motels replacing wall stats on PTAC / VTAC rooms
  • LTC and senior living that need set-point limits and quieter overnight operation
  • Student housing and multifamily with random occupancy
  • Owners doing a PTAC refresh who want the thermostat and the unit from one Canadian supplier

What AIDCO handles

  • Model selection against your existing PTAC / VTAC chassis
  • Bulk pricing for full-floor and full-property rollouts
  • Canada-wide supply
  • Installation in the GTA / Southern Ontario
  • Help checking Ontario Save on Energy Retrofit occupancy-control incentives

Warranty (manufacturer)

  • Hardware: 1 year against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use
  • Software: 1 year that it performs in substantial conformance to published specifications
  • Replacement units carry 90 days or the remainder of the original term, whichever is longer

Pricing is quoted. Volume, model mix (wired vs wireless, networked vs standalone), and rebate path all change the number.
